With more than 170 years of history, Baur au Lac Vins was among the first Swiss wine merchants, which has made a name for itself by trading the finest wines from Burgundy and Bordeaux. We have been nurturing this tradition for several generations.
At that time, fine and rare wines from Bordeaux and Burgundy were imported "en barrique" by Cave Baur au Lac, bottled, and sold to the regular guests of our hotel. Since then we have never stopped importing fine and rare wines from the best Chateaux and Domaines, and we have always been recognized for our impressive collection, our storage facilities in Zurich and of course our quality of service.
Nowadays, only wines bottled on the estate leave the famous Châteaux & Domaines. Mostly purchased "en primeur", the wines arrive in the air conditioned cellars of Baur au Lac Vins two years later. By now, the clientele for such vintages has expanded greatly. We sell these wines not only in Switzerland to hotels, restaurants, and private customers, but also to our partners in Asia.
Following a series of major expansions and modernizations, Baur au Lac Vins moved to its present-day head office: an ultra-modern building featuring a wine boutique, a rare wine cellar, and a large storage space, where sophisticated technology maintains conditions as perfect as those found in age-old, rocky wine cellars. In keeping with the Hotel’s time-honored ways, Baur au Lac Vins blends innovation and tradition to ensure a continuously high level of quality service.
